When we accept an offer from a new employer, we automatically join a new working environment. However, we had nothing to do with it’s creation: it was formed entirely without any input from us.
And because nobody has any influence over the fashioning of a working environment that existed before they joined it, next to nobody thinks they can influence it after they join it - WRONG.
You work, as does everyone, at modifying and refining your home and social environments so that they match your values and drivers, your mores and ethos and the way you prefer to behave.
We do this continuously as a matter of course and yet very very few of us ever think of putting the same effort into our working environment.
