We all love box ticking exercises - well some of us do! Here's one that is actually most effective at making us pause and question whether we are doing things in the right order. 

There are two boxes to tick, one labelled "Do you have a clearly defined and written career objective?" and the second "Have you started actively looking for a new position?" 

Don't you dare tick the latter until and unless you have first ticked the former! 

Perhaps you can recall an event from your own life and work, particularly if you manage projects, that illustrates the concept that "we need to know where we're going before we start out on a journey."
