New Unfair Dismissal Rights

New Unfair Dismissal Rights

Are you ready for the new unfair dismissal right the Labour Government intend to introduce?

Just now, most employees cannot bring employment tribunal claims for unfair dismissal until they have been employed with you for 2 years.

This gives you lots of time to decide if the person is right for your business.  It also gives you plenty of time to dismiss them if they are not.

The Labour Government intends to remove the 2-year requirement for unfair dismissal.  So, what should you be doing now to protect your business?

  •  Make your recruitment practices robust with clear job descriptions
  • Make sure your contracts of employment give you the maximum protection
  • Manage and train new recruits during their probationary period
  • Document everything

You and your managers need to work together to protect your business.  Take action now to review documentation, processes and identify training your staff may need to understand the changes.
