Your "professional or personal brand" - and yes you really should have one - is in essence the combination of words, phrases and sentences that spring to other people’s minds every time your name is mentioned.
In essence it is people’s view of the quality of your actions: it is how you apply, and what you do with, your transferable skills that characterise the activities of professional people.
Examples of these are “making decisions”, “devising processes and systems”, “motivating other people”, "focusing on detail", “implementing change”, “managing projects”.
The first stage in defining your own professional brand - what you are known for or would like to be known for - is to understand what your transferable skills really are.
Try this: for the next 10 days write down your accomplishments or achievements for that day and then identify those of your transferable skills that enabled you to do what you did.
By the way, you also need an "occupational brand" but that's a different story!
